Greta's passion for the environment has been shaped by an extraordinary career as a Safe Childbirth Coordinator, working across Eastern Europe and Asia. She received an MBE for services to improving midwifery, principally in Russia.
During her years there, she witnessed the disappearance of the Aral Sea – a vast ecosystem lost to Soviet-era irrigation projects. Together with her husband Peter, she became an active member of the Campaign for the Protection of Rural England (CPRE).
In July 2021, Greta was a founding member of the Almeley Green Group. The Meer Common project holds particular significance for her – she has spoken warmly of the original vision to restore the common and her admiration for every volunteer who has made it a reality.
